Deepika Padukone mesmerized the audience at cannes and in the opinion of many Indian and foreign designers upstaged the more famous Aishwarya by her appearance dressed in an Indian Saree. Deepika who is attending the event as the face of liquor brand Chivas Regal, opted for a Rohit Bal — off white, slightly embroidered saree with touches of gold, instead of a western look.

Here is what Rohit Bal had to say about Deepika

“As a designer, who has been observing fashion since the last 25 years, I think the only one super star at this time at Cannes is going to be Deepika Padukone. There’s nobody better than Deepika to break the rules and it’s going to attract a lot of attention.”

Question to be asked is why hasn’t Aishwarya Rai ever gone to Cannes wearing a Saree? She does look good in it, infact her best shots on the internet are in Saree. Yet she never thinks of wearing the national costume at the global stage. Even this year!

   The sari was too low waist IMO..otherwise she has not taken bath again
